Flotation tests show that the recoveries of limonite and calcite are close to 95% within the pH range of 7.5–10.0 using 3 × 10 −4 mol/L sodium oleate as collector. However the flotation of limonite was depressed by calcium ions generated from the dissolution of calcite in the flotation of a mixture of limonite and calcite.
3.Limonite flotation method . The single flotation method has a better effect on the recovery of fine-grained iron minerals but the flotation effect is seriously affected due to the easy sludge of limonite ore so it is very important to consider desprm or strengthening the dispersion of sludge before flotation.
The flotation cell was agitated in a mixing speed 1500 rpm. Limonite flotation tests used oleic acid 1000 g /ton and frother pine oil 400 g /t to be conditioned. According to the results of the flotation made on pH effect on Limonite at size classed; −01 mm grain obtained by gravity concentrated classes test results as given in Figure 3.
Flotation of pyrochlore using sodium alkyl sulphate is dependent on flotation pH. At a pH above 5.5 no pyrochlore flotation is achieved. At this pH microcline limonite and aegirine were floated. It appears that the use of alkyl sulphate at slightly acidic to alkaline pH number of gangue minerals can be selectively floated from pyrochlore.
Limonite is not a definite mineral more a rock type. It is largely formed from goethite but also contains clays and other impurities. Drop in recovery and grade may be attributable to clay adsorption of collector and entrainment of clays in the froth product.
2.1.3. Test Methods 1 The Flotation Test.The floatability difference between magnesite and limonite was investigated in a single-mineral flotation test using sodium hexametaphosphate sodium sili e and CMC as modifi ion agents to the collector KD and by adjusting the pulp pH value with 1% HCl or 1% NaOH.
